For many years I have bred Irish Wolfhounds and many of the puppies matured to become Champions; BISS & BIS winners. As I now live in the city of Amsterdam it is no longer possible to breed wolfhounds in my new home, however I still own and co-own some Irish Wolfhounds and together with my very good friends Trudy & Hans Zantingh we have set up a Picture Pedigree Health database online for the Irish Wolfhound. Also I am the owner of The Int'l Irish Wolfhound Dogazine and
StripDuke The Int'l Dogazine for all breeds.

StripDuke The Int'l Dogazine became a big succes, mainly because of the help of Tony Groenendijk.

Beacause of this and the fact I have kept in contact with my old Irish Wolfhound friends I remain in close contact with the breed.

Other breeds
As well as Irish Wolfhounds and Whippet who has shared my life over the years, I have always had toy dogs; it was the Maltese I started with and bred on a small scale and later Yorkies and Belgian Griffons. The last Griffon I bred and kept died some years ago aged 16 and another belonging to Julie Glaaser-Maher ( Beannachtaí Griffons ) died at 17 ½ years of age.

The best Yorkie I have bred is:
International Champion Israeli,Greek,Cyprus,Russian, Finnish, Danish,Croatian & Bulgarian Champion Bundessieger-2004 Mediteranean Winner-2005 Finnish Winner-2005 Sunrise v.Duke's Paradijs " Sweety"

Sweety is loved and owned by Yanina Vilenchik www.yorkie.to

I will always have a Yorkie but I no longer breed them.

As you can read I am not a one breed fanatic, I love many breeds, something that comes very handy during my judging as an Int'l Show Dog Judge. You learn so much more about dogs when your mind does not stop at one breed. This however does not mean that breeders who keep only one breed only do not do a good job!!
To my opinion breeding dogs is a form of art; you need to know your material very well and not count too much on names and titles in a pedigree. Also a good dog is a good dog no matter who bred or owns it.

Not every dog I own or co-own live with me but those who do fill my life with lots of pleasure, my dogs are pets first and do live a life of total freedom.
Read more about the dogs on their own page/section at the menu.

Next to my breeding activities I have been a teacher for the course AKK, this is one of the courses you need to begin with if you like to become a judge, also I have tutored students who were learning to get the next course needed E&B ( dog gait analyzing and everything that go with that knowledge). That was a fantastic time to spend with the students, we had a lot of fun in those days!! For a lot of breeders I have been a mid wife and helped with the delivery of their puppies.
I have been secretary for the IW club and for different other dog clubs. And gave several courses in ring training.

My other hobbies are:
Writing stories/poems
Drawing
Painting
Taking pictures
& many more creativity's

All these activities brought me lots of pleasure and a chance to look at dogs from many different angles!
